Monkey Pod Surfboard

Tuesday, July 17, 2018

Just got in a beautiful Monkey Pod old style surfboard.
This was shaped by Leleo Kimimaka, and is truly a collectors piece.  This is a consignment sale from a buddy that recently moved back from Hawaii , and got this board from Leleo.
Quick Bio of Leleo:
LELEO KINIMAKA

The Kinimaka family can be traced back seventeen Hawaiians generations.

Leleo is one of the cultural leaders of the Hawaiian archipelago, keeping alive the Polynesian ancestry with pure aloha spirit!

Son of one of the most traditional surfers of Waikiki, Leleo grew-up among the Beach Boys and the strong presence of Uncle Duke Kahanamoku. A life surrounded by the ocean, music, hula, surf and work, handmaking paddles and surfboards as hundreds of years ago, full of good energy and mana.

Leleo Kinimaka is a bridge between Polynesian ancestors knowledge and what’s best in terms of technology and performance these days.
Da Hui is proud to have a collection of Leleo’s handcrafted canoe paddles & Alaia all-wood boards.

The “duke” on the board was authorized by the family.

Board is 97” X 18 1/2” wide,  about 20” in the nose and 15” tail.  You can tell this is hand shaped!   We have it in the shop for $2500, which is a bargain, as most of his boards sell for $3000++….
