Our blog has been a copy of a morning email that we started sending out to friends etc. several years ago…… then a couple years ago, our computer guy thought it would be a good idea to send it to the blog, for public viewing….. it has been fun, and most people understand some of the humor and sarcasm that our group enjoys. I have decided to continue our morning emails, but will not post them on the blog, I will do a seperate posting. If by chance, you have enjoyed the blog, and would like to get the morning email, drop me a note, and we can add you to the “list”……..

I got a few responses from my rant on the kids not graduating high school……. From “Lips” Having worked for 7 years in the school system (I quit when I hit the top of the pay scale) in a low income school, I can tell you that you are RIGHT! Back in my day, kids came to school ready to learn; they were fed, rested, clean, and prepared. Today, for many, many children, nothing could be further from the truth. Today, they come to us exhausted, filthy and smelling, lice ridden, starving, abused, and neglected; many never having been read a book. We had a full-time nurse and psychologist, a public laundry room with washer and dryer, a free clothing room filled with donated clothes, free lunch and breakfast, free before and after school tutoring, two school dogs for love, the most dedicated, highly educated staff ANYWHERE, and a ton of volunteers to give one-on-one attention to struggling kids in need. We had to solve a thousand problems and heal a thousand issues, before we could really begin to “teach” subjects like reading and math. Our school system can not be everything to everybody. It is much less a financial issue, than it is an issue of parental accountability. Teachers are ready to teach…they just needs students who are ready to learn.
HA! You got one of my “hot buttons”
from John….. It is a battle against the rude and the selfish. Unfortunately, we seem to be outnumbered, but at least we have them beat in the brain power department. So many of these goons are dumber than rocks and will NEVER get it. I really do believe that some of these folks would benefit from a physical beating of one form or another, but unfortunately that’s not acceptable in our society. I have seen it work in the military though, physical punishment like a good grueling PT session or being told to freeze in the Pacific (with no wetsuit) whipped us into shape real quick. People respond to physical discomfort (that’s PC for pain by the way). So, I guess we just have to resort to outsmarting them and being well armed at all times.
From Mo amen
this is the Memorial Day weekend, and one of our gun suppliers sent out this email, which I felt was fitting, as you might know , we support the military in our shops, and have many in our families both serving and vets……..so, had to pass this one on….
“…gather around their sacred remains and garland the passionless mounds above them with choicest flowers of springtime….let us in this solemn presence renew our pledges to aid and assist those whom they have left among us as sacred charges upon the Nation’s gratitude,–the soldier’s and sailor’s widow and orphan.” –General John Logan, General Order No. 11, 5 May 1868
The “Memorial” in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice:
? by visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes.
? by visiting memorials.
? by flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.
? by flying the ‘POW/MIA Flag’ as well (Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act).
? by participating in a “National Moment of Remembrance”: at 3 p.m. to pause and think upon the true meaning of the day, and for Taps to be played.
? by renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our falled dead, and to aid the disabled veterans.

Swell dropped from yesterday, and we have the infamous minus low tide at 6am this morning. Very light S/SW winds today, but light rain for the next couple days, supposed to dry up for the weekend…. MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND…… key word…”Memorial”….. try to remember what the main reason for this holiday weekend is for…… Today, W 8-9ft @11 sec’s , but should begin to drop later in the day. water temp about 55, air at 52 this morning, supposed to warm up to 60 today. Looks like closer to high tide might be ok today…. Thursday drops to W6ft @ 12sec’s with light N/NE winds. Friday W 5-6ft @ 13 sec’s with NW winds 10-12mph. Saturday NW 4-5ft with light NW winds, Sunday W 4 @ 12 sec’s with light N/NE winds, Monday W5ft @ 12sec’s with light N winds….. will be overcast for the weekend, but should be dry for the most part, and the surf is looking like you can find some waves…….
While driving around this morning, heard on the news that the Oregon stats for kids graduating high school in 4 yrs is about 65%……. some counties down around 53%, and when they spoke of minorities, they were all in the low 50%…… in my (strange and weird) mind, got me thinking about how we are constantly bombarded with more taxes for schools…. “for the children”….. and this is the result? Of course then I got to thinking a bit more ( not a good thing)…. seems where the hell are the parents??? No wonder there are so many kids without any manners or common sense manners….. their parents are more concerned with the drug of choice, or being the friend vs the parent…. or, the parents are kids themselves…. just because you have a number on your age, doesn’t mean that a person has common sense……. oh well…… at least something to think about….. rudeness is getting more “normal”……..
