Been one hell of a week so far…….. yesterday morning, power went down, didn’t get it back until 5:30p…. had to pull out the generators (that we had just put away 2 weeks ago), got the house fired up so everyone there was comfy, then we got the Beach Store up and running, so we could keep the coffee hot and frozen stuff frozen, have lights and music……. kept busy keeping them both in gas…… I also heard we got some shots on channel 12 in Portland….. haven’t seen it, but I doubt if Dave had sent out the part with my real feelings aobut the power outage and crap weather…… a few F bombs in that part of the interview……. Today, SW winds, about 10mph, was 41 when I came over to the shop, should warm up to the mid 50′s again… rain and wind off and on…. WSW 15ft@ 13sec’s building to 20ft+ today. 7:30a minus low tide…. 1:40p high tide…and , looked like a full moon….. wow…that answers a few questions in my mind……
Wed. W 15ft @ 13 sec’s with light SW winds. Thursday WNW 15ft dropping to 12ft later in the day, light NW Winds. Friday SW 10-12ft @ 13 sec’s building to 15ft later, S winds 20+mph Saturday WNW 20ft @ 13 sec’s with SW winds 12mph. Sunday W 12ft with SE winds 10-15mph……
Sandy’s wife brought him by yesterday…… he is looking like he went through a triple bypass one week ago…… good sense of humor, and I am looking forward to getting him back in the shop…..seems like he is also looking forward to planting himself behind the counter!!

Just got this from Bob Bolen….”The Greek” for those that have not been in a shaping room with a guy like this, it is very interesting… for others, you can see a guy who has been shaping for 50+ years….. and if you ever meet him, you will understand a “planing device”….. If you pay close attention, you will also notice the logo on his hat……
(Bob…. I have to order one for the shop!!! The pickle that is….. see you in April!!!) (and a new hat is on the way.) mark mekenas cbsurf@cannonbeachsurf.com www.cannonbeachsurf.com | www.bfdsurf.com

Had a visit from the Flounder yesterday….. although the good part of the visit, was that his wife came down with him.. made the morning “bearable”….. So….. got this from the Flounder, seems he took the time to do a sketch of me….. sort of scary…. we have it hanging on the wall behind the counter, to avoid making little kids cry…… and of course, he added the quote of the day……
Also got a chance to speak to Sandy today as well…… he is completely unplugged, but still pretty sore and groggy, with a fair amount of drugs still being injected……. but, at least he is on the road to recovery….. should be back at work at the shop in about 6 weeks or so….and in the water in about 10-12 weeks…. or so we hope!!! I have been passing along all the good wishes from all of you……
