A much nicer morning than we have had in a while.... went up to Indian to check it early.... 7:30a and still dark..... by the time I got back down the hill, sun is starting to burn off some of the crud...... Weekend is starting to shape up ...... Today, NW 7-9ft @ 11 sec's, dropping as the day goes on. Light N/NE winds ( some off shores this morning). High tide was at 6am, low at 11am. Sunday even better in the am, W 7ft @ 12 sec's with light E winds in the morning. High tide at 7am, low at noon. later on Sunday, picking up to W 8ft with SW winds 25+mph. Monday W 12ft with W 25mph winds. Tuesday NW 14ft with N winds 20+. Wed. NW 10ft with SE winds 25+......
Yesterday, Gary Linden and Pierre stopped by after the Nelscott contest..... had some great stories, and glad to see he represented my generation.... took 6th out of 11 contestants, and almost 60! He said the first wave, the biggest, he took before the heat started, but it was just too damn good to let go...... said he didn't make the "corner", straightened out, and got hit from behind by a wall of white water..... twisted his back and knee pretty bad..... he was limping around the shop...... but, he did paddle out and caught one that he said was not as big as the first, but about the same size as last years wave.... 30+ft.... rode it...... then decided he better get in..... but, on a good note, he said his knee and back hurt so much, he forgot about his sore hip....... see, there is always good in everything.....!!
I will be heading south the week of Nov. 9th, to pick up all the custom boards being done..... so, if you have one on order, it will be here by saturday the 14th....yes, even cousin Eddie's! So, if anyone down south needs/wants anything from "God's Country" , let me know..... or if anyone from up here has something special they need picked up, let me know as well.
Have a great weekend!!!

by all reports, the Nelscott contest is still on today. I have a call out to Gary , to get a first hand report, but he is either sleeping in, eating, or possibly in the water......????? IF I hear anything, I will post it on the blog..... Today, doesn't look like the W 15+ the reports were calling for, looks big, but about W 10ft @ 12 sec's...... actual reports : W 12-14ft in the am @ 16 sec's, building to W 17ft @ 15 sec's later. Light S winds, low tide at 9:30am, high at 3pm. Hope it is bigger south!!! Friday, W 10-12ft @ 12 sec's with S winds 20+. Saturday W 10ft wtih light N winds. Sunday, one report calling for W 11ft, another W 6-7ft with S winds 20+mph. Monday W 12-15ft wtih W winds 20+mph. Tuesday NW 12-15ft, Wed. NW 12ft. So...... not sure what I am doing today...... either working outside, as the sun is burning off the morning funk, and I do have a bunch of projects that are screaming for my attention......
OK... just got off the phone with Gary....he said the reef is breaking, but looks 20-25ft...... not epic, but he will take his 10'6" Balsa out around 1p I guess, he thinks , when the paddle part starts.... said there are a couple of jet skis pulling people in............ Swell should pick up around the 1pm time and hold for several hours..... good intervals. So.... If you are heading down, there will be some waves.... Naturally, I have to pull for our buddy Gary.....hell, he will be 60 in December!!! Got to root for him!!! At least all of us old guys are!!!!!

for some reason the first email went out very late.....hung up in email hell I think........ so, went up to drop off the 11 softops for the Univ. of Puget Sound kids, and decided to paddle out.... 2 guys out, but they were on the way in, so ...... I figured.... hell yes..... no crowd, OK waves.... not cold....dry wetsuit, great white to change in...... glad I did.... had a ball, everything from waist to overhead, long waits between the biguns, but well worth the wait...... finger and target showed up as I was leaving.... probably going to be better as tide comes in.... The kids from the University, had a lesson yesterday with Luke and Jules, and they were having a ball.... no one but them in the water..... Overall, a damn good morning!!!!! Hope yours is doing well !!!!!

One hell of a day for the dog show...... this morning, the south winds were blowing about 25mph... hard rain early..... by the time Gordonite and I had hit IB, it was almost nice.... south winds had dropped off a bit, air temp in the mid 60's, and the swell didn't look as big as was being called for.... Today, SW 6-8ft @ 9secs. Minus low tide at 6am, high tide at noon....... We figured, if we don't get the S gusts of 30+mph, at high tide, it might be fun up there...... or not....... Sunday looking better, SW6ft @ 9sec's with light S winds, Monday SW4ft with light SE winds. Tuesday W9ft with S winds 25+mph, and Wed. starts the big stuff... W 11ft, building to 15+........ Did see Baby Face and his crew coming out of IB looking for some surf, before Adam has to take the move to Michigan on Sunday...... Looks to be a strange day...... Have a great weekend! Still better to be here than there...... where ever that is.......
