Beautiful morning on the coast! Sun is out, and the damn minus low tide is at 8a this morning. Wed.it will be out even further, -2.2 at 8:40a…. Gordon and I are going to go and test the now infamous HRAP people who have taken it upon themselves to “protect” the rock and tide pools from the people who pay for it…… so….. if there is no report on Wed., that means that we are in the hoosegow…… Today W 3-4ft @ 8 – 10 sec’s with light N winds, but picking up later to 20+mph. Going to go looking around 10:30 or so…… let some water get in over the bars….. Wed., about the same….. Thursday W 8-9ft with possible morning rain and some N winds 15+mph….. Friday NW 9ft with N winds 15+mph. minus low tide at 10a. Sat. W5ft with Nw winds 10+mph, and minus low tide at 11am….. So… looks like it will be another great weekend at the beach!!

Looks like it will be “one of those days”….. beautiful this morning, but some nasty black clouds out over the ocean….. Swell report calling for W 7ft @ 9sec’s, but looks more like 6 sec’s…. minus low tide at 8:09am. Probably get some rain later…… going to go check the surf around 11a, to see if it will get any better…… Water looking pretty brown up north, and pretty junky as well. Tuesday, W 4ft @ 8 sec’s with N winds 15+mph. minus low tide at 9a. Wed., lowest low tide…. -2.2 at 9:46am, W 3ft swell with light NW winds. Thursday, W 10ft with NW winds 15+mph, minus low tide at 10:30a. Friday W 9ft with NW winds 15+mph, and minus low tide at 11:10a…. Checked a few other sources, looks like Friday – Sun will most likely be about 4-6ft with sunshine…… Last night we had our first “training” class for the new business up stairs….. had about 13 people attend…. pretty interesting stuff.and eye opening as well….. Mike Albers (aka ” curse jr.”) put on the class…… (shameless plug to follow…) He has opened his practice in Portland, and one in Ventura…. poor bastard…… “Working Class Law”….. he even has a website…. www.workingclasslaw.com good guy….. although, I question the ability to be a good surfer and good lawyer….. like George, good lawyer………. good thing though, Mike doesn’t ride tupperware…….

Looking at last years pictures, I stumbled across this little gem of Mark Hansen….. formerly world class surfer, and somewhat of a human being , now just another old fart, giving his opinion of the surf last June 21st……. or maybe just “giving his love” to all……. Sandy’s head…(bald) is in the bottom of the pic…… maybe he was expressing his feelings towards his old buddy…… not sure???? Couldn’t be flipping me off………..

Light rain this morning, and foggy over the beach. Very light NW wind this morning, but will pick up later today. W 6-7ft with 8-10 sec intervals, and looking pretty junky. Some outside sets looking all of the 7ft called for. High tide at 11:45a…… Sunday looks about the same with minus low tide at 7a. Monday NW5ft with light NW winds and minus low tide at 8a. Tuesday W 5ft with light N winds and minus low tide at 9a. Wed. W5ft with light W winds and minus low tide at 9:40a…… so….. looks like a drive south might be the best……. things might get better with some water in….later this morning……

Rained most of the night, and just some drizzle this morning…..but , looks like it will be like this for about 2 or 3 days…… Mon – sun of next week is sunshine……. W5ft @ 9-11 sec’s this morning, S winds 20mph, picking up this afternoon to 30mph…. Sat & Sunday…. NW 7ft @ 9 sec’s with NW winds 15mph….. so, looks like today, you want to find a spot with protection from the s winds….. on the weekend, the opposite….. Monday and Tuesday, W 5-6ft with light N winds…….
The new biz upstairs is ready to roll…… our first “class” will be on Sunday night at 6p, a safety and concealed class….. “curse jr.” Mike will be the instructor…. $35 per person….no credit cards for this one……. refreshments to follow……. and Father’s day to boot!!!!

Looks like the swell picked up a bit since yesterday….. had some rain last night, but the sun has been in and out all morning…. should be a pretty good day. SW 4ft @ 15 sec’s with light NW winds in the am, and as usual, will pick up in the afternoon…. die off in the evening…. Friday W 5ft @ 10 sec’s with W/NW winds 15+mph Sat. W 6ft wtih light NW winds, and possible morning rain…. Sun. NW 7ft with am light NW winds Monday W 6ft with am light NW winds…… Going to go take a look in a bit….. heard it is a bit bigger on this side of the head, so south of here will no doubt be epic…… as always!!! Side Bar: Congrat’s to George Kindley in San Diego…. won his case, one of the largest suits in California against Elder abuse….. glad to know the “young un’s” are looking out for us old folks……. He is one hell of a good attorney…… (and an OK surfer, rides tupperware).

Some things come in the email, and are just too damn good to “not share”……
I have posted a few more pictures from the Saturday night “under the deck party”, along with a note I got first from finger, then the response from Dan “arnold” the pig…… yep…… more tequila…… From Finger: You help for a brief moment? Can you remember the brief moment? Can you even remember the party?
response from “Arnold”: I remember the entire day very clearly. It was one quandry after another from dawn ’til dusk.
Surfing with Eric is one of those things where neither of us is satisfied with the surf the other one wants so we ended up surfing in bird shit stew at sunup after declining on Needles (Brad’s “secret spot”). The next quandry was whether or not to run over the idiots sleeping in the middle of the road with only their bicycles to protect them from cars and trucks doing 50 MPH.
To keep the story short I’ll skip to the quandry of whether it was okay to start drinking Terminal Gravity at 10:30 AM. That was settled when we decided that if Mekernarse would sell it to us, it MUST be okay. Don’t think for a second we didn’t know Merkenarse had already hidden any additional stock of TG because he knows we are stubborn as an STD and will not leave ’til it’s all gone. He did not realize we are capable of drinking other beer. He also did not calculate that once the third stooge (Jaynai) gets involved, all bets are off. We realized after the first six that we were in it for the long haul.
There were many more quandries throughout the day but I’ll save those for another day. The one in question, the now famous photo, was entirely Gary Linden’s fault. Here I was sitting quietly nursing a beer holding up the building and Mr Linden walks up and hands me a cup and then pours Tequila in it. What you see in the photo is me contemplating what’s going to happen when I drink that Tequila. Mind you, at this stage it was never an issue of if I was going to drink it but rather simply what was going to happen once I did. If you could zoom in you can see the neck of an appropriately named “Dead Guy” ale. What you are witnessing here in the photo is fifty years of wisdom combined with ten beers consumed reflecting on the many times I had made this mistake before knowing the whole time that that damn tequila was going down. Oh how sweet it was. Gary must have “touched” it because it was superb.
Despite all the crap I am taking for my condition, not one person has yet congratulated me for convincing a 6’2″ 250 lb Samoan brawler that the party was over and we were paying for a hotel. I won’t go into details but I will emphasize the severity by saying the first thing out of his mouth the next morning was “brah, it took everything not to hit you in the face last night”. That’s the price of doing the right thing sometimes. Fortunately the second thing out of his mouth was “brah, we gotta go surf”. So we did.
Oink.
