Hope you all found some over the last 2 days. Today is gonna take a little more searching. Swell has dropped to around 2-3′ and there is some wind out there pushing anything over for 0-2′ +/- conditions. Toss some extra foam in the car and search it out, there’s gotta be some waves somewhere. Sounds similar way down south eh Mark? Here’s how the end of the week is shaping up (possibilities this weekend!):

Wed: N Wind 15-20kt NW4′@9sec (lookin like 2′)
Thurs: NW Wind 15-20kt W6′
Fri: NW Wind 10-15kt NW6′ (bump?)
Sat: NW Wind 15-20kt NW 7′

Yesterday was pretty busy…. met up with the Greek for a few hours in the morning, picked up a couple of shorty’s for the shop, then Mark and Bob got into a internet / web discussion, that pretty much left me touching and feeling all the boards in his shop….. then off to our newest supplier, Birdwell Britches… met the crew there, and picked up a bunch of shorts for the shop… all made in the USA…… then down to Oceanside, met up with Harry from Boz, Mark at stay covered, then spent some time with Linden…. no Sandy… the bumble bee was not finished, so I couldn’t get any pictures….. got an afternoon session in Carlsbad, in some damn tiny surf, but felt good to paddle up and down the beach…. water temp about 60….. sun was out….. then a dinner at Fidels, now just called Norte in Carlsbad with family…… and we did some drinking, but not enough to stop me from getting up for an early morning session with Gary…….. too bad the surf is even worse this morning than yesterday, and some light S winds with overcast sky’s….. so, finally got the computer to connect to the wireless here at the hotel…… going to go get some coffee, then off to San Clemente to meet with Shea Weber and pick up a few boards….. not sure when we will get wireless again…… but, hope the surf cleans up a bit later today!!! Sounds like Cory has been getting some waves up there…… damn…never fails…..

Probably going to have to call in sick today because, dang its nice out! Surf is a little lackluster as of this AM but showing hope for this afternoon as long as the winds don’t get out of control Looks like the fog bank is hanging out over Shorts and Seaside at the moment but will probably burn off as the day goes on. Find a little wind protect this afternoon and you’ll probably get some waves, Su John and I sure snuck in to a few last night. Here’s the week as of today’s 50/50 report:

Tues: N Wind 15-20kt rising to 20-25kt W5′@10sec (N. Wind protection)
Wed: N Wind 20-25kt NW3′@10sec (breezy)
Thurs: N Wind 15-20kt NW7′
Fri: NW Wind 10-15kt NW6′ (Boss-man arrives w/ a van-full of toys)

Made it down to Huntington Beach…… had breakfast in San Francisco, lunch in Pismo….. hot….. yes….. damn hot!!!! 95 on the beach in pismo with surf about 1-2 foot…. didn’t get any better as we drove south. Hopefully, it won’t be so damn hot on Tuesday, and an extra foot or two would be nice……. Heard the foot is getting some waves up there, and “flounder” is going to christen his new board in the morning……

Monday morning and the sun is still out! Had a great sunny weekend with some funky(at times) and fun(at times) surf. Nice to get a little bit of a sunburn on the coast as well. Surf today is looking better, a little less on the funk a little more on the fun. High tide this AM at 9:30 made it pretty soft. Perhaps this afternoon will let some of those mushers get thru to pushers. Looks like a fun week while the boss-man is out on the road!

Not looking as clean as we had hoped, but the swell looks about 7 ft, although the reports calling for W7-9ft @ 11 -13 sec’s with light NE winds this morning….. not that cold, pretty damn nice actually….sun is out….. the northend of the most famous spot around will no doubt be busy today…… N/NW wind picking up later to 20+…. Monday, W7ft @ 10sec’s with light N winds. Tuesday W 7ft with N winds 20+mph Wed. W5ft with NW winds 20+mph thursday W 7ft with N winds 25mph…..
I am off…….. Hope everyone has a great week, and gets some water time! I will certainly do my best to get some as I head south….. Yesterday was by far one of the most fun days working in the shop….. some new people came by, good conversations, and lots of regulars stopped in for some coffee…… felt like a good old fashioned surf shop…. got to clean up some boards, make the shop stinky………. if yesterday was a taste of summer, we are going to have some fun….. I will be back Friday afternoon, with a van full of new toys…..

Well, here’s what we had today at Oceanside. Nothing to write home about – pretty small stuff. I spent about an hour and a half in the water and picked of a few fun little nuggets, but the key word is “little”. I got totally skunked in Baja. It was a lake. It was a long drive for no surf, but the down time was good nonetheless. I’ll let you know about hooking up with you next week once I see my calendar on Monday.

Drove around since 6:30a……. saw SB and Hank out, 31 degrees….. about head high and pretty mushy and some junk…… decided to drive around a bit more….. might be better with 1/2 tide, and I think most hit the shorts….. surf reports look like it may take a little more time to clean up, maybe this evening. W with some NW 8-9ft @ 12sec’s with light NE winds in the am… damn cold!@!@! high tide was at 7:22a. Sunday lookiing fun, W7@ 11 secs with light E winds, in fact, since I will be hitting the road on Sunday, and not back until Friday, looks like the surf will be pretty good all week…… never fails…… road trip…. good surf….. come back, gets junky…….??? Mon and Tuesday W6ft with light N winds, and high tide around 10-11am….. Wed NW7ft with light NW winds, and high tide at noon….. The foot has agreed to post while I am gone…..so, the pictures will be much better…(he is a professional!), and his commentary is better as well….. damn, maybe he should just do this all the time!?!?!

Big difference from yesterday! Swell did pick up , but so did the junk…… W 6-8ft today @ 8-10 sec’s, with SW/W winds today 20+mph….. Fog this morning, and overcast, but air temp in the high 40′s this morning. Spoke to Sb up north….. not so good either…… he was dry. Saturday, W9@ 12 sec’s with light N/NE winds……………….??? Sunday W7ft with light NE winds Monday W7 with light N winds Tuesday W6 with N winds picking up to 15+mph. Overall, looks like there is no guarantee on any spot in particular working ….. look and see will be the plan…… But, the next 4 days, not looking so bad……. hopefully, as good as Mon and Tues look here, I might find some equally good stuff down south……

Just got back……. had some fun waves with Cory and Mike today, wasn’t great, but no crowds and some occasional chest high waves. Most were waist high, and it was a bit better with more water in, got sketchy as the tide went out, but still looked nice from the parking lot. Very light S winds this morning. Friday supposed to build to W8ft @ 10sec’s…..??? not sure….. S winds 25+mph. Saturday W 9ft, dropping to 7ft later in the day with N/NE winds 20+ Sunday W8ft with light N winds Monday W6ft with light N winds……. I am almost feeling alive again…. good to get back in the water after over a week being dry!!
