First a story. Went out last night with the lowest of hopes. Looked like crap with a total of zero in the water, zero in the parking lot and all the flags pitched out pointing somewhere near directly East (yes for the directionally impaired that is West wind). I think there may have been whitecaps just beyond the rocks on the north side. I've had some desperation sessions in the past but this one would for sure take the cookie. I thought "well I'll go out and paddle around with Boo-Boo for some exercise". Sure enough, once in the water it was crap and cold. Boo-Boo shouts over to me "I don't remember it being this windy out here" thru the chop and howling wind. "That's because we don't go out in west wind!" said I with a face-full of white water. Then something formed that looked like it could be a 'wave' so I turned paddled for it and no that wasn't a wave but the next one was. We shared about half a dozen real walled up wind waves over the next 45 minutes. What started out as no-waves quickly became some waves with decent drops! Good thing to remember for today; go with low expectations (and some extra foam) and you just might get a few!
The report: not as much wind this AM but still on the junk-tacular side of things. Small small at about 2'-4' even though the report is calling for 8'@7sec. That interval seems about right. Take a longboard today and just wing it. Big-boss-man arrives tomorrow with new toys from Dewey Weber, Linden and the Greek (yup a couple more Shorty's!). I would imagine in his tech-savyness, Mark will be posting pics on the site on sat or sun. Here's the outlook for the weekend:
Thurs: NW Wind 15-20kt NW8'@7sec
Fri: NW Wind 5-10kt NW 5'@9sec
Sat: NW Wind 10-15kt NW5'
Sun: N Wind 15-20kt NW7'
