Glad we went yesterday, but, the reports are calling for “18ft seas”….. looks more like 7-10ft. Calm winds this morning, and the air temp is about 45….. nice change after all the snow and ice this week……. Monday W 18ft with N winds 30+ Tues. W 10ft with SW winds Wed. W 15ft with W winds Christmas Day W19ft with NW winds 25+
Rant of the day……. Media……… for those of us in business on the coast, the news channels in Seattle and Portland can either make or break a weekend business…… so….. on Friday, all the channels in Portland, except 12, were telling people to stay away from the coast…… ass munches….. So, last night we are watching the news reports from the city, snow, ice, cold…. god, the media channels were eating it up….. wanting to see some cars sliding around etc….. while down here, the snow was melted, some light rain, and just a bit of wind….. other than that, we had no problems driving around, shopping, going to restaurants, or just being outside…… now, this morning, we heard that 26 and 6 are closed due to downed trees….. wouldn’t it be too bad to have been “stuck” at the coast for an extra day, away from the miserable weather up there???????? Oh yea, heard that the big “secret” surf spot in Seaside made the TV news, with some surfers in the water…….. boy, that must have really made Benson pissed off over there……. so…… we enjoyed a cup of coffee out in front of the store this morning with a few of the other small business owners in town…….

Got out this morning with “the foot”, “cheap bastard”, “bird” and “Pomona”…… surf was pretty junky, and it was snowing and about 31 degrees……. still found a few, and had fun….. was great surfing with “the girls” from school…… well worth the drive up to Indian…… Pomona drove her van up, that in itself was a trip…… one hell of a young woman she has gotten to be….. and, she now has the “getting stuck in snow” chapter over, and can move to the next trial in life….. Surf was everything from waist to head, and extremely fickle…….. now, we can deal with the storm that is supposed to hit……..

First shot….. a couple of “our girls” are back from school…… Bird and Pomana H……… enjoying pictures of the bird “surfing the dunes” earlier…….. Reports say the surf is 8+, but looks more like W 4ft @ 12 sec’s, almost no wind this morning, so….. looks like it will be the day to put on the wetsuit in front of the fireplace, and take a drive for some surf……..Should be in the water, no later than 10a… might warm up to 35 by then! We are supposed to get hit with a big storm later today…. winds 60-75 mph…. should be one hell of a show…. going to check the generators after the surf to make sure they are ready….. Saw our shop on the channel 6 news last night…. dreadlock jim was shoveling snow in front of the shop, and was interviewed…… also, Cory “the foot” dropped off some homemade cookies….. they didn’t last long…… between the girls and myself, pretty much devoured…… Sunday, W 12ft with SW/W winds 25+ , Monday up to W 16ft with W winds 20+, Tuesday W 11ft with SE winds 25+, then Wed. W 15ft with SW winds 25+……..
