Looks like they might be almost there by Wed! Ray Prom…. standing on his truck, is getting the forms ready for a pour in the morning for the planters and some of the walkways…… not seen in the pictures…. Mark McGill is starting to tape the drywall and put on the borders etc….. Amazing, the way these guys all seem to work as a team…… Kudo’s to Coaster Construction ….. great coordination!!! All this , and it’s only 2pm!

Minus low tide this morning, so…….. going to wait until about 9:30 to go find a wave…. was fun yesterday, then around 2p, the winds picked up and the temp dropped about 20 degrees….. weird….. today, W 3-5ft @ 9-10 sec’s, with some S winds. Overcast early, but looks like the sun is trying to burn some of it off….. Wed will pick up to about 6-8ft with SE winds….. Thurs SW 11ft with S winds….. then Friday and Sat. looking strange….. “Seas” 21ft….. um……..

Another amazing day….. Papa John at Coaster Const. recovered from a couple of minor setbacks, and things really progressed much more than I would have ever anticipated! Mark McGill showed up to start the drywall, and we were hoping only to have the upstairs (our offices) done, but, he finished pretty much the entire building….. a few spots still, but about 90%….. amazing!! Ray Prom had his crew in, and getting the planters and walkway’s prepped for the concrete……. Rick and his Crew are working on finishing off the deck and siding…. Enough can not be said about this project….. just amazing!!! Place is looking great!!! Can’t wait to move surf stuff in!!

Got a real neat email from Matt and Natasha out in Hood River….. these kids have been great friends for years…. Matt aka: Australian lifeguard , even though he is from NZ……. Looks like we will be promoting their venture in Costa Rica:
“Matt and I have a very exciting announcement to make.
This summer we took stock of our lives and decided it was time to do
something different….something radically different, especially since our
two boys, Alex and Finn, are still quite young. After some research and
investigation, we found the perfect opportunity in the perfect location.
We are the new proud owners of Point Break Surf, a surfing school and guide
company.
Where?
Costa Rica! No kidding. Really.
We will be based in the Guanacaste region, otherwise known as the “Gold
Coast” of Costa Rica and it is one of the beautiful parts of Costa Rica.
Specifically, we will be operating in the tourist towns of Flamingo,
Brasilito, and Potrero (all three are located half a mile of each other).
As you can imagine, Matt and I are very excited and this kind of enterprise
is right up our alley, with Matt teaching / guiding (and morphing into a
fish) and me running the operations and marketing. We have already found a
great school for the boys that teaches in both spanish and english.
“Wait, what about WetDawg / Katabak?” you may ask. WetDawg was sold to
Katabak about four years ago and since then, BroadbandSports.com and
Broadbandmotorsports.com have been the company’s flagship sites. While I was
initially involved with Broadbandsports, after two children, it was time to
move on.
For the time being, we are renting out our house in the Columbia Gorge while
we are gone. We plan to be back in the Gorge next September / October as
that is the rainy season in Costa Rica and there is not much tourism.
We hope you will consider coming to Costa Rica for your next vacation.
We will show you a good time!
Now, gotta get back to studying Spanish…Talk to you later!”

Morning fog, but the sun is starting to burn it off…. damn minus low tide again…. no rush, will probably get better as the tide starts to come in… High tide at 12:30p…. W 4ft @ 9 sec’s, with Lt.N winds in the am, picking up in the afternoon. Monday and Tuesday, about the same, except on Monday, E winds, turning from the South on Tuesday. Swell picks up on Wed and Thurs to SW 8-9ft, with S winds….. so…… mon and tues, I will stay on my side of the head, then Wed. and Thurs, time to go invade Sandy’s side….. go visit the old guys…….
Sunday rants etc…..: Yesterday was one of those days, that it is fun to own a surf shop! Nothing but nice and fun people in the store, with great attitudes and smiles….. it was fun to help out, or just BS….. And the weather was great! Had a ball surfing with Travis , Brogan and the crew…… good smiles, but I am a bit concerned that Brogan was “hitting” on me out in the water….. Just read about Paul Newman dying…. bummer….. I met him once at a rest. in Bev. Hills….. a nice guy, who wanted to talk more about the wine business than himself …. big smile, and his wife was just as nice….. we do carry alot of his products at our market, sorry to see a good old guy go…… So…….. I am watching the news this morning, and they are going off about how the congress “worked all night” on getting a bill written to bail out the fat cats….. and is supposed to help all of us out…… um???? not sure about this one…. anyway, what is the big deal about those “fat cats ” in Congress finally working more than a couple hours…. you would think these people work everyday and never take a vacation……. what a pile! And it doesn’t smell good……. and, on top of that, how many “sheep” will be thankful that they actually did some work??!?!?!?

First picture is “the Crew”…. Rick and his guys….. amazing work these guys are doing! I would say that about 65% of the siding is done…… they are coming back to work on some more on Sat., then Monday, supposedly, the infamous Mark McGill is “supposed” to start on the drywall…. and, word is, that “IF” the McGill actually gets going, and Tony gets some Temp heaters wired to dry up the mud on Wed. , we can start painting next friday…… We are all just keeping our fingers crossed that the weather continues to hold through Wed of next week, as we still need to get Ray Prom to finish up the cement work…… But…… Coaster Construction is on this!! Can’t say enough good about Coaster!!
