DL Jim and myself got out early, already 2 guys out…. surf was knee to ankle, mushy little guys….. every now and then, a thigh high monster would rear up….. felt good to paddle, the water still on the cold side…… SW 2ft @ 8-10 sec’s, with some NW winds later……..
OK….. all was fine this morning, until another old guy out there decided that we needed to hear everything about how much he knew about surfboards etc….. all the while riding another pop out…… I finally shut him up, at least talking to me, when he started asking me shop questions, and I politely told him that I don’t discuss business while I am in the water….. I guess that pissed him off, as he had to do a mouth run off in the parking lot about how bad the locals at Indian Beach are…… what a dickwad….. old skinny guy, long ass white beard….. trying to compete with the loud brothers for the most annoying in the water…… Thank God, Dreadlock Jim had to listen to his “running of the mouth”… Other than that, everyone else out there in the water and in the parking lot looked like they were about to have as much fun as possible…Amazing how one dick head; can spoil a nice quiet morning….

Just got backl…… was a fun morning, knee high, with occasional waist high clean waves…. had a bunch of em…… Good group in the water, as finger and pretty boy left as I got in…. Doc and Chris, Jyanail, the foot, Andrew and friends….. water was still cold…. glad I had the gloves on…. Report is calling for W3-4ft, with NW winds picking up later to 15mph…. weekend still looks small….. going to give it one last shot early sat. morning…. then to work…… “the foot” is the body in the water……

Took my time this morning, but should have just surfed at Indian first thing….. instead, went over to the cove…. might have been better early, but the wind started , and looked like it was getting junkier…. got a couple shots of the 6 people out….. drove back to Indian, and got some waist to knee high junkers with Craig…. did find out that the GP does not like steep take offs…. put this in the memory file….. but still had some fun…. better than sitting in the parking lot. W3-4ft @ 10-12 sec’s, NW winds picking up to about 15+ today…. More of the same for friday, then Sat and Sun look like 3-2ft, with the swell direction changing on sunday to SW….. Just finished at the market…… get this done, then take a drive up to Indian, if no go, then take a look at the cove…. swell looks like it picked up a bit, but also got some junk in it….. Report calls for NW 4ft, but looks more like 5-6ft @ 8-10 sec’s, with Lt. NW winds that are supposed to pick up a bit later…. More of the same for Thursday, then Fri – Sun, drops to 3ft, and SW 2ft on Sunday…… good for us longboarders…. sucks for the shorty’s….. Got out around 7a this morning, the foot and pretty boy were already out there….. it was much better than the 2ft projected on the surf sites…… Good group out…. Jyanail and I paddled out to meet with the others….. damn nice morning, about waist with occasional chest….. and even some knee high nuggets…. and it was Quiet!! The loud brothers were no where to be found…… damn nice….. then some other guy paddled out….. he was good as well, no noise etc….. him pictured in the shots….. Got up to Indian around 6:30a, with SU John, John and Joel Nelson, Doc, Jacque, Harold finally showed up late…. Dan the banker was real late….. Damn fun group to get out with, surf was Knee to Waist high, W 3-4ft, no wind early, but supposed to get some NW later to 15mph. Looks like Tues – Friday will be a bit bigger, W/NW 4-6ft with light W/NW winds….. going to try to hit it early everyday (except Wed)……
If you think of it, don’t forget what the holiday is….. not just for big sales……. For those in uniform that gave it all. Ok…… yesterday, was a nice quiet morning, a few of us out….. at first, a kid from Washington, then the “cheap bastard” paddled out, surf was mediocre at best, but it did feel good to get out early, before the holiday crowds hit….. but then, from the shore, we hear the yelling and hollering…… then I turn around, and here comes Cory “the foot” and the 2 guys who all of us have nicknamed “the loud brothers”…… 2 of the most annoying people that will ever paddle out…. even at the cove, they are known as the 2 biggest annoyances out there……. It is hard to understand why these 2 guys think that it is “cool” to yell loudly, hoot and holler at every crap wave that comes by….. Now, we don’t think that we own the ocean, but some manners might be nice for these to arrogant idiots try to practice….especially early in the morning……. and, they drive the VW toureg, as pictured below…… notice how they are nice enough to leave their trash in the parking lot……..I can only hope and wish they would “grace” shorty’s more often! mark mekenas cbsurf@cannonbeachsurf.com www.cannonbeachsurf.com
