Not as cold this morning….was 38 at 8a, and going to be a sunny morning…… Surf looking pretty damn good for this time of year….. SdN was busy yesterday, between 10 and 20 out, looked waist to head……. should be about the same today. This morning, no real wind , but we are supposed to get some SW winds picking up later today with gusts 55mph….. hard to believe, but…………??? W7-8ft @ 10 sec’s this morning. Monday: W 14ft @11sec’s with W/SW winds 25-35mph Tues., Wed., and Thursday looking like W 16-17ft with SW winds 25+…… Probably a good idea to try to get in the water today………
San Diego beat the Colts last night….OT…… SD had one guy who did 320+ yards on his own….. amazing….. being from SD, I alway worry, as they have a rep of getting close, but never able to finish up……hell, I even lost $10 to one of my little sisters, didn’t think SD could pull it off last night….that is probably the only reason they won……….

Damn cold on this side of the head this morning….. ice on the roads and streets…… surf is looking pretty damn fun….. going to wait for it to warm up a bit, as CB Hill is a mess with the ice and snow, and the road to Indian will be really nasty…… High tide not until around 4 or so….. so, no rush……. Hwy 26 is nasty….. took my son about 4 1/2 hours to get in last night from Beaverton…… spent most of the time sitting in the car waiting on ODOT to put down some gravel…. lots of cars in the ditch……. W9 @ 9-10 sec’s, with NW winds in the morning, turning SW later today 20+mph. Sunday, NW 8ft @ 10sec’s with lighter S winds…… Monday it starts again…. W 13, building to 14 and 15 ft on Tues and Wed. with SW winds 25+ mph…….

Just got these pictures from Kerry in N SD county……. I would be happy at this point with the little warmer stuff down south…….
Mark,
I spent the last few days in Baja. I got back yesterday afternoon. I took some pictures - more out of boredom than anything else, because there was no surf. So I?ve not included any shots of the trip. I went out at Oceanside today hoping for something more but to no avail. I?ve included a couple shots just to prove there wasn?t much. Don?t let Garytell you that I exaggerate the truth anymore. Actually it was a little better before I took the pictures ? at least enough to entice me to get out in the water ? but really nothing to speak of. However, I did run across a nice little blast from the past. As I was getting ready to leave I saw this kid getting suited up and then carrying an old Linden board. It?s the attachment titled Linden 1021. The 1021, I assume, would be the serial number of the board. I explained to the kid and his dad that I have been having Gary shape my boards for the last 10 or 12 years and asked him how old his son?s board was. He didn?t know, but when he checked the board for any indication he was able to find the number 1021.

A beautiful morning on the coast…….. cold! Ice on the front porch , almost slipped and fell on my ass……. surf looks about 8-10ft and real junky….. NW winds not helping much, with gusts 30-35mph today. Swell is supposed to pick up to 21ft today. Not sure if there is a place that might work…… Weekend is looking much better than previously thought…. Sat. W 10ft with SW winds 15-20mph, Sunday W 9ft with S winds 20+….. SdN might be OK?????? Then Monday picks up to W 16ft with W winds 25+ and Tuesday W 15ft with SW winds 20+…… some sun this morning…… Cory added a very interesting article we copied out of Surfers Journal about wetsuit rubber…… if you get a chance click on the picture on the front page of our website…..

Just got the surf report from Mr. Finger up north:
“Happy New Year!
You’re on your own-I don’t think s_____ s________ will be working. The winds are averaging 30+ mph at the mouth, out of the SSW-gusting more and from the pics, I don’t think the swell is big enough to get in there. I’m staying home. Maybe the SdN?
I’m hungover and kinda like being warm and dry right now.”

Happy New Year! First day looks like shit…… took the pictures at 8:15a, S/SE winds blowing 35+mph….. Swell is all over the place….. report calling for W 14-27ft, right now looking around 10ft, but the winds are knocking the swell all to hell..we should be getting gusts 55+mph….. might be bigger later…. waiting for a phone call from up north to see if it is any better…… Not looking too promising for a first of the year surf….. Friday, W 18ft dropping to 15ft later, with NW wiinds 25-35mph. Saturday W13ft with SW winds 20+, Sunday W13ft with S winds 25-35mph.. Monday not much better, W 15ft with W winds 25+…….
Heard the surf down in S cal was small…….. wouldn’t mind some of that right now……
In spite of it all….. have a great day!!!!

Last day of 2008……. Surf looking much smaller than the reported W 13ft this morning…. W winds knocking it down, am winds about 25mph….. but not too cold…. Winds supposed to turn from the SW later to 30+mph….. some rain…. so, no fire on the beach….. Yesterday was pretty impressive… went over to SdN, and saw Samoan Eric catch one at shorebreak, but wasn’t there to see him snap one of our “loaner” 9′ Linden’s…… missed that little show…… so, we will now have 2 broken boards in one 3 month period from the Samoan……. hanging on the wall…… hell, I may have to dedicate one area for his “trophy’s”…… Even better news than that, yesterday I handed over the keys to the Family Market building…….. we are now completely out of there…… not a tear was shed….. as one employee said…”I won’t miss working in the cold, dark, cave” New store is much nicer and more comfortable….. So…. we will enjoy another bottle of White Star tonight….. did one last night to celebrate no more Family Market, tonight we celebrate a new beginning at the new store and a new year!!!! Thursday, Jan 1st, I am going to find a place to get wet…….don’t care what the surf is doing, I will at least get the board in the water….. Cheap Bastard can be found in Arch Cape wearing his Viking horns and jumping in the water for that annual event…. too much of a crowd for this old fart……..Surf should be W 13-19ft with south winds 25-45mph….. Friday W 20-25ft with W winds 30+, Sat. drops a bit to W 13ft with SW winds 15-25mph….. Sunday W 11fty with S winds 30mph +………. maybe next week!!!
